General Motors rewards those patient automotive enthusiasts with 2009 Chevrolet Traverse, an eight-seater crossover SUV built on Lambda platform. 2009 Traverse is the latest and fourth SUV spun off GM's Lambda platform after Saturn Outlook, GMC Acadia, and Buick Enclave.

The flexible utility which accommodates more people and stuff, best fuel economy of any 8-passenger crossover (17 mpg in the city, 24 mpg on the highway and 19 mpg combined), and the starting price just over $28,000 make it a distinctive 'no-compromise' vehicle. Offered in LS, LT, and LTZ trim levels, 2009 Chevrolet Traverse is powered by 3.6L DOHC V6 engine. Available in both front- and all-wheel-drive configurations, all the models receive power from a six-speed automatic transmission. The LS and LT trims are rated at 281 hp @ 6400 rpm with 266 lb-ft of torque @ 5500 rpm. In the top-line LTZ, hp jumps to 288 and torque goes to 270 lb-ft thanks to a dual-outlet exhaust and an upgrade to direct fuel injection,
Traverse’s interior is a confluence of refined styling, technology and attention to detail. The cabin can accommodate eight adults with a 60/40-split three-passenger bench or seven with available captain's chairs. With the second and third rows folded flat, the available cargo space is 116.4 cubic feet, one of the best in its class. DVD entertainment, rear climate control, leather upholstery, navigation system, remote engine start, satellite radio, rear obstacle detection, and a rearview camera add more style and fun inside.
The new Traverse comes with a host of safety features. It includes a full complement of airbags, including curtain-style bags for all three rows, anti-lock brakes, electronic traction and stability control which ensure more safety to the passengers.
