After this first round of dealt cards, the players receive another card face down. After which, the dealer deals himself two cards, one face up and the other face down. The face up card initiates the players’ decision of whether or not to ask for another card from the dealer if the player believes he can beat the dealer’s card total without going over, or, in blackjack terminology, going “bust.”

Over time, avid blackjack players have learned the blackjack strategy known as card counting which guides on how to make calculations and predictions as to whether or not the request for another card will spell win or defeat against the dealer. This has brought the game of blackjack to another dimension and caliber of casino games.
