Optimize the HTML Code

The HTML code of your website should be clean and optimized properly.

• Discard off all unwanted tags
• Avoid using Div tags to hide unwanted content

• If you are using tables, avoid using nested tables.

Design Good Tables
Avoid using nested tables. Use as many separate tables as you can. Avoid using 100% height for an outer table, this is because the page wouldn’t be rendered until the whole table gets downloaded. On the other hand, if you use separate tables, parts of the web page will get displayed as and when they get downloaded.

Maximize the Content Area
If you maximize the content area you can increase the readability of your website. Moreover, it reduces load time as content takes less time to download as compared to images and other visual elements.

Avoid using Graphics, Flash and Scripts
Graphics, Flash elements and scripts add on huge volumes of to the file sizes to the web pages and bloat them. In place of heavy images, use background colors and fills to enhance the visual appeal of the web page.

Optimize Heavy Files
If you cannot avoid including heavy files, make sure you optimize them accordingly. You can use editors that offer an option in the preview panel to reduce the file sizes.

Spread the Content

Use Text Links in place of Graphic Buttons
Graphic buttons have larger files sizes even though they are visually appealing. Instead, use plenty of HTML and CSS Styles to create text links that look as attractive as graphic buttons.

Use SSI Files
SSI or Server Side Include Files get stored in the cache once it is called from the web server. And it can be used from there for any further requests and need not be downloaded all over again.
