The number of homes sold is down, but not by much. Single family prices are up over 2007, but not as high as 2006, and condo / townhouse prices are up over 2006, and almost at 2007 levels. Inventory is up, but homes are still selling. As of 11/3/08 there are 189 single family homes for sale in Freehold Township, ranging in price from $199,900 to $1,995,000. There are also 81 condos for sale, priced between $105,500 and $375,000.
All homes in Freehold township send school age children to the Freehold Township school system for grades K-8. There are 4 schools for grades K-5, and 2 middleschools for grades 6-8.
High school children for Freehold Township send their children to the Freehold Regional High School District, which consists of 6 high schools - Freehold, Manalapan, Marlboro, Freehold Township, Howell and Colts Neck. Children usually attend the closest high school - most of East Freehold will attend Freehold Boro High School, most of the southern end of Freehold Twp will attend Freehold Twp.
Each high school has a specialized Learning Center for highly motivated and talented students, who are all are eligible for enrollment through a competitive admission process . The curriculums at the Specialized Learning Centers are:
Howell - humanities, performing and fine arts academy
Freehold Township - animal and botanical sciences academy, global issues
Marlboro - business administration
Freehold - medical sciences, culinary arts/hospitality management academy and a computer science academy
Manalapan - science and engineering, law enforcement and public safety academies and automotive technology
Colts Neck - a Navy JROTC character and leadership development academy, law and public service
At all of the high schools, SAT scores consistently exceed state and national averages, and more than 87 percent of the district's students pursue higher education.
