As I sat on the train on cool morning on my way for a job registration, I noticed a man in his early thirties with his lovely daughter wearing such a benign smile and carrying an ebullience character, all seems well it appears. He was her protector, her guidance, and her father; you could see he was making sure all was well with her; she appeared healthy, dressed appropriately and neatly like any other girl on the train.

There was a problem right after we got outside the train, I was displeased by what I witnessed, he popped up a cigarette and lit it up, right beside his daughter, and I began to ponder that despite the adverts on the train station regarding second hand smoking, he still put his daughter in a situation that compromised her health.

I cannot claim to love my daughter and then ignore her health issues, it never has ceased to amaze me how parent make those decision to put tobacco before their kids, such attitudes are prevalent in today’s society and when the consequences results the parents expects the NHS to deal with the problem, one they could have avoided if they were more responsible.

The love of a child should not only be evidenced through material provisions, but on the child’s health care which is of utmost importance, so when next you tell your child I love you make sure your actions complements your words.
