Cocaine is an addictive drug. It destroys a person’s body. It is to be blamed for heart illnesses among users. Physically, cocaine brings loads of uncomfortable effects. A person addicted to cocaine might already be immune to these physical effects of cocaine use but nevertheless, they are affected.

Cocaine affects the body physically. It alters the proper functioning of the body, thereby, leading to complications and illnesses. The heart suffers the most. Cocaine forces the heart to work harder, it tightens the blood vessels and increase blood pressure. It has a chemical that interferes with proper heart functioning.

Persons addicted to cocaine usually become slim because they lose their appetite for good and healthy food. Their body does not crave for food because the functioning of the mind is also altered. There is no signal from the brain that the person is already hungry. Cocaine users will not feel hungry and therefore, will not eat. This is disturbing because malnutrition will even aggravate the health problems brought about by cocaine use. Some serious cases of cocaine addiction even lead to death by starvation.

Cocaine also causes a user to vomit and feel nauseated. It elicits a feeling of euphoria that separates the person from his physical world. Other times, cocaine causes extreme feelings of anxiety, stress, fear and excitement. There is typically an unpredictable mood swing.

Another physical effect of cocaine is restlessness. The person will feel agitated and will have cold sweats. This physical effect intensifies as cocaine penetrates the body of a person. In some cases, cocaine user can feel swelling or sometimes even bleeding of the mucous membranes. Cocaine addiction targets the lungs as well. Cocaine addicts have a hard time breathing.

These physical effects of cocaine are experienced by all cocaine users. Those who are already addicted to cocaine may no longer notice the physical effects but it doesn’t mean that they no longer have it. In fact, the effects on them are worst. They are slowly dying without them even knowing it.

Cocaine elicits such tremendous physical effects because it is easily absorbed by the body. Its effect is direct and very dangerous. It becomes even more hazardous when the person becomes immune to the physical effects. This will lead to constant use and cocaine addiction. And once a person gets addicted to cocaine, detoxification and rehabilitation can become very challenging already. But of course, cocaine addiction rehabilitation and detoxification, no matter how challenging, are achievable.
