I live in southeastern Wisconsin; I drive a school bus for a living! I have to be up and out of the house by five am; when I am driving at five in the morning I can't not believe the number of people on their cell phone; who or what could be so important that you would have to talk to someone at that time of the morning?
People have a hard enough time driving, let alone being on their cell phone. I find it even more amazing that people driving big vehicles are talking on their cell phone.
When I am up on that school bus, I have all to do, to drive, and pay attention to all the traffic around me, let alone be on a cell phone.
Now I understand most people don't think driving a school bus is that important. However it is not that easy driving a bus-we usually have anywhere from twenty to thrity kids on one bus. Remember we don't have teachers-or aids on the bus. We are all of those people in one. It can sometimes get kind of hariy when you are trying to watch that Sally doesn't pull Tommy hair out-and to watch the traffic around us.
What can be very frustrating is when we put our red lights on (yes in Wisconsin we have red lights) and
we have other vehicles that think-they don’t have to STOP! What is so hard about Stopping for a school bus with it’s flashing red lights on and the STOP arm out! So maybe you are a few minutes late for work-well leave either five minutes early or later.
People these are children getting off the bus-yes CHILDREN that don’t pay attention to weather you are stopping or not, this little guys are just happy to be home, you think that they are pay attention to you? NO that is why you have to watch them.
So please next time you see a school-use a little caution and slow down. More then likely there are
children on board. At one point they well be children getting off the school bus-just remember everyone belongs to someone!
