Because servo motors are used in robotics, they tend to be smaller in size. The biggest benefit of a servo is the amount of pressure it provides in comparison to the amount of electricity used. A circuit is usually built within the servo unit. It will have a smaller motor to accommodate a smaller engine. The size of the motor is proportional to the amount of torque delivered.

The way the angle of the servo moves or rotates is based upon the main control wire. As a pulse is sent through the control wire, the length of the signal will determine the angle at which the servo motor changes. Typically a pulse is sent every twenty milliseconds. A long pulse will cause a change in the servo motor of greater than ninety degrees, while a short pulse will cause a change in direction of less than ninety degrees.
